Now, panel shares vendor price list

Following the matter raised by the street vendors, the Market Committee of Ludhiana has started sharing vendor price list of fruits and vegetables.

Tiger Singh, president of Rehri Phari Federation, said the authorities concerned earlier used to release only lists of wholesale and retail prices of fruits and vegetables due to which the vendors had to face troubles. Now, the market committee has started mentioning vendor prices (approximately 10% margin on wholesale prices). “The vendors will get the vegetables and fruits as per the vendor price list from the suppliers. The vendors will sell fruits and vegetables at retail price (around 25% margin of the wholesale price). When we purchase the stock of fruits and vegetables packed in bags from suppliers, some items are found to be rotten,” he said.

He alleged that the street vendors were still facing problems as the guidelines were not being followed by several suppliers. “We request the authorities concerned for early redressal of our issues,” he said.
