Ludhiana, August 23
Thieves struck at a house located near the Kailash police post last night and decamped with foreign currency and valuables worth several lakhs. Three days ago, thieves had stolen tyres worth lakhs from a showroom near the Dugri police station.
Deepak Sharma, who is a mobile distributor in Ludhiana, said he, along with his family, went to his relative’s place in Haibowal last night. He lives on the first floor of the house and his brother on the ground floor.
When they returned home in the morning, he was shocked to see his house ransacked. The thieves decamped with Indian and foreign currency worth lakhs along with gold and silver ornaments.
Deepak suspected that the thieves entered the house from the rooftop.
Meanwhile, the police scanned the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area to get some clue about the thieves. A dog squad and fingerprint experts were also called.
The SHO of police station 8, Jarnail Singh, said they had launched investigation to crack the case.
On the night of August 19, thieves struck at a tyre showroom at Dugri, Phase I, and stike tyres worth Rs 15 lakh. The showroom is located near the Dugri police station. The thieves had brought a a truck to steal the entire stock of tyres.
