Ludhiana, May 14

With an aim to contribute to “Green Ludhiana” and keep the environment clean and green, a vertical garden was inaugurated at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) today.

Binay K Jha, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region, Chandigarh, inaugurated the garden. Additional Commissioner Rohit Mehra, Secretary of DMCH managing society Prem Kumar Gupta, Vice-principal GS Wander, Dean Academic Rajoo Singh Chinna and Medical Superintendent Sandeep Sharma were also present.

Jha said two years ago, on the occasion of Income Tax Day, they had launched a green plastic campaign for their own office at Rishi Nagar by using waste plastic bottles. He said vertical gardens helped maintain the air quality and reduce heat in buildings.

Jha appreciated efforts of all members of the management who had contributed to the project. He asked the youngsters to come forward and involve themselves in such projects.

Prem Kumar Gupta said the DMCH was the first hospital of the region to have developed a vertical garden with a purpose to provide good medical facilities as well as a clean environment to patients as well as to the public.
