A Non Resident Indian (NRI), living in the US, got registered a fraud case against his brother, a retired college lecturer and a doctor, who attempted to usurp his parental property by preparing a forged will.

Complainant Yogesh Sood had registered a complaint at the NRI police station in the city under Section 420 (cheating), 448 (punishment for house trespass), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. The accused have not been arrested in the case so far and notices are to be issued to them to conduct further probe.

The accused have been identified as senior citizen Ramesh Sood, a resident of Lal Kothi opposite Government College for boys; a doctor Jagjit Singh, resident of Rani Jhansi Road and a retired lecturer Balroop Grewal, a resident of College Road.

Aditya Jain, counsel of the NRI, said a complaint was lodged at the NRI police station in July and two-month long probe led to the registration of an FIR.

Aditya said as per the will of Maya Wati, the mother of the complainant, Yogesh, his brother Ramesh and one Rajat Sood got the equal share of property. After selling most of his property, Ramesh then started keeping an eye on the property of his brother Yogesh, who lives in the US.

“To usurp the property of his brother, Ramesh prepared a forged will of his father, which declared him the sole owner of the parental property. That will was forged and unregistered. Accused Balroop and Jagjit were the attesting witness in the will, due to which they were also made the accused in the case,” Aditya said.

He said charges of forgery would also be added in the FIR in further probe.
