Ludhiana, September 27

The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) was held today at one of the centres at Sherpur Chowk here. The exams were conducted in two shifts — morning (9 am to 12 pm) and afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). Candidates, who were to appear in the exams, had to follow the Covid-19 restrictions, which included wearing face masks, carrying hand sanitisers in transparent bottles, etc. It was ensured that guidelines were properly followed inside the centre.

The students who appeared for the test, however, found physics test a little tricky and difficult as compared to chemistry and maths. One of the students said: ”Overall exams were not that easy as most of the students found physics difficult.”

Another student said physics and maths were difficult while chemistry was easy.

Over 90 per cent students (total 343 in number) had appeared for the JEE (Advanced), which is a good percentage despite Covid-19 scare.

Over 1.60 lakh (1,60,831) candidates had appeared in today’s exam at all India level.

As per reports, about 87 per cent of candidates (All India), who had got themselves registered and paid the fee for entrance, were allocated examination cities, which fall under the top three choices they had made during the registration.

To maintain social distancing, Covid precautionary measures, exam centres were asked to run half of their capacity. The NTA had increased the centres to 1,150 and cities to 222 to follow the social distancing protocols. Last year, there were 600 centres.

Due to the current scenario, the JEE authorities have relaxed the need for various updated certificates in the registration process. Authorities allowed students to upload valid category certificates at the time of reporting after seat allocation due to the pandemic.
