The father of research in corn in Punjab and former Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University, Dr Amarjeet Singh Khaira, left for his heavenly abode on Thursday evening in Mohali.
He hailed from Seron village and did his schooling from Khalsa High School, Batala, while living at his maternal house at Kot Ahmed Khan village. He pursued his higher studies from Agriculture College and later became head of the corn research team and then went on to become head of the same department. Dr BS Dhillon, present PAU VC, was also a member of the corn research team. Khaira later settled in Mohali and formed the Senior Citizen Association, Punjab.
