PAU Extension Wing bags top honours at zonal workshop

The Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), was adjudged the best directorate of extension education (Zone-I) at the annual zonal workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK), said varsity officials. The workshop was hosted last week at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu.

As part of this coveted honour, the directorate was presented with the revolving trophy “Chal Vaijayanti”. A total of Krishi Vigyan Kendras representing Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh were in the fray.

The award was received by Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, PAU, and in-charges of KVKs.

The three-day national workshop provided a competitive and collaborative platform where participating KVKs showcased their achievements, innovative extension strategies and field-level impact. PAU’s integrated, farmer-centric and technology-driven extension framework emerged as a benchmark for Zone-I.

PAU Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal commended the directorate for translating scientific advancements into tangible outcomes for farmers. He complimented the extension team for their collective contribution to the directorate’s exemplary performance, noting that the recognition reflects PAU’s sustained commitment to strengthening the research-extension-farmer continuum through inclusive, responsive and impact-oriented outreach.

The Directorate of Extension Education at PAU functions through one of the country’s most extensive frontline networks, comprising the Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC), 18 KVKs, 15 farm advisory service centres, plant clinic, skill development centre and a multi-platform communication centre.
