PAU holds seminar on ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’
national seminar on “Viksit Bharat 2047: Nutrition, Psychology and Screen Time – Status, Interplay, Challenges and Way Forward” was jointly organised by the Department of Food and Nutrition, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and the Department of Food Science, Nutrition and Technology, CSK, Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, in collaboration with the IAPEN India (Ludhiana Chapter).
The seminar, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), attracted pan-India participation from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Delhi. It had more than 210 participants with 130 oral and poster presentations in total.
In his presidential address, Satbir Singh Gosal, PAU, VC, emphasised on the critical role of nutrition, mental well-being and digital habits in shaping India’s future.
The distinguished keynote addresses were delivered by Dr GS Wander, a renowned cardiologist, and Dr Prabhjot Malhi, former professor at the PGIMER, Chandigarh. Dr Malhi provided valuable insights into the psychological implications of screen time on children and adolescentsDr Wander emphasized the critical role of cardiovascular health in the context of nutrition and lifestyle choices.
Dr GS Mangat, Additional Director of Research (Agriculture), PAU, Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science, PAU, Dr Chander Kanta, Dean, College of Community Science, HP Agricultural University, Palampur, Dr Kiran Grover, head, Department of Food and Nutrition, also addressed the gathering.
