PAU students shine at national, international conferences
Three Punjab Agricultural University students recognised for their research
The research of three Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) students was recognised at different national and international conferences held in February, said officials.
At the 7th Global Agriculture Conference held on February 21 at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Chandigarh, two students from the Department of Chemistry were recognised for their outstanding research. Krishma Rani received the “emerging young scientist award for her work on azomethine linkage-based nano-particles for metal ion sensing. He work is being mentored by Jyoti Gaba.
Komal Singh was conferred the “young scientist award” for her research on ferrite, carbon dots and bioenzyme-based nano-composite materials, aimed at advanced sensing and catalytic degradation of microbes. These materials hold promise for advanced sensing applications and catalytic degradation of harmful microbes, offering potential solutions in environmental and health-related fields.
At the international conference on “Microbial Innovations for Sustainable Development (MISD)”, organised February 20 and 21 by the Department of Microbiology, Graphic Era (Deemed to be) University, Dehradun, Ritisha Goel won the “best oral presentation award”.
She is an integrated MSc (hons.) graduate from PAU’s Department of Microbiology. Her research under the theme “industrial application of microbes” is guided by Richa Arora and focuses on the production of type II functional sourdough bread. It combines microbiology with food innovation and industrial application.
PAU Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal lauded the students.
