Peddler arrested

Ludhiana: The city police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 5-gram heroin from him. The accused has been identified as Mandeep Kumar, a resident of Preet Nagar. Investigating officer Kashmir Singh said during a routine naka, Mandeep Kumar was stopped for checking and during his search, the narcotics were recovered from him. 

2 bootleggers held

The police division 1 arrested a bootlegger and recovered 39 cases of illegal liquor. The accused has been identified as Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Civil Lines. In a similar case, the Shimlapuri police arrested a bootlegger Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Basant Nagar and recovered 26 bottles of illegal liquor.

Man held with heroin

The city police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 100-gram heroin from his possession. The accused has been identified as Upkar Singh, a resident of Nanaksar Mohalla, Shimlapuri. Investigating officer Jaspal Singh of the Anti Narcotic Cell said during a routine naka at Dugri, the suspect was stopped for checking which led to the recovery of narcotics. 

Minor girl kidnapped 

A 16-year-old girl was kidnapped by a man identified as Vivek Kumar, a resident of Farid Nagar. Complainant Kedar Nath of the same locality told the police that on July 16, her daughter had gone to attend school in Daresi but did not return. Later, he came to know that accused, who was living at a rented accommodation near their house, had kidnapped her daughter on the pretext of marrying her. The police have launched a manhunt. TNS
