Peddler nabbed with 5-kg ganja

Ludhiana: The Moti Nagar police have nabbed a drug peddler and recovered 5 kg of ganja from his possession. He has been identified as Guddu Kumar of Bhagat Singh Colony. The investigating officer, ASI Mewa Ram, said the police received secret information that the suspect was on the way to deliver drugs to his client near the GLADA ground. A naka was set up and Guddu arrested with the ganja. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against him. TNS

Three held on gambling charge

Ludhiana: The anti-smuggling cell of the city police has nabbed three persons on the charge of gambling. They have been identified as Tejvir and Harvinder Singh, both residents of Model Town Extension, and Amardeep Singh of D Block, Model Town. The police said the suspects were gambling at Karnail Singh Nagar and they were caught red-handed. The police recovered Rs 14,500 from the spot. A case under the Gambling Act has been registered.
