Phone-charger a must

Recently, a factory owner wanted to hire a few skilled workers in his garment factory, as three of his workers had gone to their native place in UP and did not return. A labour contractor was called to the factory for negotiation about the wages. He looked the factory, and said, he would get the workers in a day or two. But before leaving, he asked the owner to let him see the machines, where the workers would be deployed. After observing carefully, he came back to the owner and said, "You need to keep a pin-plug at the machine itself for charging the phones. We cannot get up again and again to go to main switch-board to charge the mobiles".  The owner asked the subordinate to do the needful as he did not want to lose the workers!

Cleanse yourself first

There has been a lot of hullabaloo against the menace of drugs in the state, especially, among the rural youth. They are dying due to overdose. Political leaders are raising their voice to curb drug-dependence, and a race is on among the leaders to go for dope test. The ground reality, was, however, exposed in a rather comical manner during a protest against drugs by workers of Youth Congress in the city. A video journalist caught on camera that one of the protesters clicked picture, while having beer, and shared it on a Whats App group. Those coming across wondered as to what kind of message the party was trying to convey by public consumption of intoxicants, while protesting against drugs. Moral of the story is first cleanse yourself  and then raise a voice against a

social menace

How will city

become smart?

A three-hour rainfall recently exposed MC's poor arrangements for the monsoon. Making a fun, the social media users shared photos of flooded roads with tag of 'Ludhiana Smart City'. Some city residents were conducting discussion in one of the Whats App group. One of them stated, "Our roadsides are being covered by installing interlocking tiles, leaving no place for water recharging. The authorities seem to be not interested in promoting rain harvesting system. How will city become smart?”.

Heritage games are fun

While children are hooked to mobile and play stations on the pretext of playing these days, but playing of traditional heritage games in government schools was a nostalgic day for teachers who  were also the organisers. One of the teachers at a government school, said, there was a need for revival of the traditional games back in the popular culture of Punjab, because these are much more interesting and helped children interact at a much deeper level, and develop better societal bonds. "Most of the children studying in government schools are now those of migrants, it is good that they are also learning the heritage games of Punjab. But these should not just be restricted to government schools, but should be made mandatory in all schools across the state, including private schools as well," a teacher said.

No lessons learnt

While sitting in the cabin of an officer at District Education Office, a brief encounter with an offender involved in the NEET exam paper leak, who sought 35 lakh rupees from students for a sure shot MBBS seat insinuated that the man learned no lessons. Being unaware of the presence of a journalist in the room, he narrated the plot for the paper leak and his arrest by the CBI. Meanwhile, he claimed of assuring a seat in JEE Advance of the officer's son and claimed that all papers are leaked in advance. Some are habitual offenders and learn no lesson
