SCD Government College alumni association and the Rabta Group on Saturday staged the musical play “Wo Afsana” on the campus, paying tributes to its illustrious alumnus and legendary poet Sahir Ludhianvi.

The production depicted Ludhianvi’s life and literary journey, commemorating his legacy and association with the institution. Principal Gursharn Jit Singh Sandhu welcomed the guests at the programme. Appreciating the initiative, he said such events play a vital role in connecting the present generation with the institution’s rich literary heritage.

The production was presented by a team of performers from the Rabta Group. Attendees said renowned actor Shamir portrayed Sahir Ludhianvi with great conviction and noted theatre practitioner and educationist, Jaishree Sethi, essayed the role of Amrita Pritam.

According to the organisers, the production was further enriched by live musical performances by singers Shreeya and Rajesh Kumar from Delhi. Bimmi Kashyap, a student of SCD Government College, impressed the audience in the role of Amrita Pritam’s daughter.

Organising secretary Gitanjali Pabreja expressed her gratitude to the artistes, alumni and the participants for their support. Pabreja highlighted the continued engagement of the alumni association as an integral part of the college community.

Brij Bhushan Goel, organising secretary, alumni association, shared his fond memories of the college, expressing pride in its sustained commitment to celebrating literary and cultural heritage.

Attendees called the event a “culturally enriching and deeply moving tribute”, honouring Ludhianvi’s timeless literary contribution and his cherished association with the college.
