Ludhiana, December 13
The police are all set to curb noise pollution by taking stringent action against persons playing loud music in the city after 10 pm. Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal has issued directions to all SHOs to take immediate action if they get to know about any such violation.
The police, however, are unclear about the use of speakers at religious ceremonies and at religious places such as gurdwaras, temples, etc, during daytime and night.
“Anyone found playing loud music, DJ after 10 pm will invite legal action. In case of violation, an FIR can be registered under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Act 2000 and the Environment Protection Act 1986, besides section 188 of the IPC,” say police directions, also posted on the official Facebook page and Twitter handle of the police.
