LUDHIANA: The police nabbed 12 smugglers, including four women, and recovered drugs from their possession yesterday.

The police nabbed 12 smugglers, including four women, and recovered drugs from their possession yesterday.

The Division 6 police nabbed a woman smuggler, a resident of Kabir Basti, and recovered 70 gram of heroin from her possession. Investigating officer Shoukin Singh said during routine patrolling at Santpura, the woman was stopped for checking. The police recovered drug powder from her possession.

The Salem Tabri police nabbed two women smugglers, both resident of Bhogpur, with 10 gram of drug powder.

The Shimlapuri police nabbed Sandeep Singh of Moga with 25 gram of drug powder. He was arrested near the Arora Palace while he was on the way to supply the drug to his clients.

The Koom Kalan police nabbed Sukhwinder Singh of the town with 13 gram of drug powder. Satnam Singh of Chaunta and Ramandeep of Gujjarwal were also held with 23 gram of drug powder.

Meanwhile, the Dugri police nabbed three drug peddlers, namely Gagandeep Singh of Jujhar Nagar, Deepak Kumar of Shimlapuri and Surinder Singh of Shimlapuri, with 11 gram of heroin and 11 sachet of the banned medicines. They were nabbed from the Dugri T-point.

The Moti Nagar police nabbed Lovely Gupta of New Punjabi Bagh on a complaint of LIP MLA Simarjit Singh Bains. Lovely was caught selling drugs. The matter dates back to March 11 this year. The police registered a case after conducting a thorough investigation.

The Jamalpur police booked two drug peddlers, namely Vicky Sharma and Parminder Sharma, both residents of Tajpur, and recovered 10 gram of heroin from their possession. Vicky has been arrested.

  Drug peddler held with 450-gram heroin

The Special Task Force of the Ludhiana police have nabbed  a drug peddler with 450 gram of heroin. He has been identified as Sunil Kumar Sundri (43) of Vishwakarma Nagar, Tajpur Road. Harbans Singh, in charge of STF, said they got secret information that the peddler had brought a huge consignment of drug from an Amritsar-based smuggler. The STF cornered the peddler near the Central Jail and recovered the drug. Harbans said Sunil ran a dairy on Tajpur Road. He started peddling drugs a few years ago to become rich in a short span of time. He already faces cases of drug peddling and attempt to murder registered at the Division 7 police station. TNS
