Police to up surveillance with CCTV cameras in Ahmedgarh
To enhance security and surveillance in the area, the police have launched a movement to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at all strategic points in the localities falling under the City and Sadar police stations.
The formal announcement for the commencement of the project was made by Malerkotla SSP Gagan Ajit Singh after a survey was conducted under the supervision of SP (D) Vaibhav Sehgal and Ahmedgarh DSP Rajan Sharma. Aditya Sharma, SHO of the city police station, and Sukhwinder Singh, SHO Sadar, monitored the process of the survey at beats falling under their respective jurisdictions.
SSP Gagan said the process for assessing locations to determine the optimal placement and the type of CCTV cameras required had been initiated with an intent to further enhance security in the Ahmedgarh subdivision.
Criticality of the area to be monitored, lighting conditions, existing infrastructure, potential threats, and the achievable level of security were cited as the major factors affecting the proposed comprehensive surveillance system plan.
“Having studied the geographical extension of the segment surrounded by localities, falling under three different police districts, we have prepared a comprehensive surveillance system plan for installing and monitoring CCTV cameras at all strategic points of the regions,” said Gagan, adding that office-bearers and activists of various social and constitutional organisations had been roped in to ensure the functionality and safety of the equipment.
