Powerlifters shine in HP championship

Students of Government College for Girls (GCG), Ludhiana, delivered an outstanding performance at the powerlifting championship held on February 22 at Mubarakpur in Himachal Pradesh, winning multiple medals and accolades.

According to a press release issued by the college on Thursday, Sandeep Kaur, a former student and current coach of the college weightlifting team, was conferred the prestigious title of ‘Overall Strong Woman’.

Her remarkable performance with an impressive 202.5-kg dead lift was the highlight of the event.

Among current students, in the sub-junior category (below 75-kg), Shreya Saharan, a student of the BA-III course secured the gold medal. In the junior section (75-kg+), Kamaljot Kaur of the BA-III course clinched the gold with a dominant performance.

Adding to the medal tally, Nito Rani (BA-II) won a silver medal in the junior category (75-kg), while Sakshi (BA-III) earned a silver in the junior category (65-kg).

Principal Suman Lata congratulated the achievers, and conveyed her best wishes for their future endeavours.
