Prabhjot to lead Ludhiana team

Prabhjot Kaur has been named captain of Ludhiana baseball team for the 14th Senior Punjab State Baseball Championship for Women scheduled to be held on October 5 at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, in this district.

A 16-member team was selected on the basis of players’ performance during the Senior District Ludhiana Baseball Tournament held at the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, from September 27 to 29.

The selected players attended the preparatory camp which was held from October 1 to 4 at the Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women.

The list of selected players was released here today by Harbir Singh Gill, president of the Ludhiana District Baseball Association. AS many as 12 teams — Patiala, Bathinda, Moga, Ferozepur, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Sangrur, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar, Barnala besides hosts Ludhiana — will take part in this championship.

The selected players of the Ludhiana team are Prabhjot Kaur (captain), Arshdeep Kaur, Jassi Kaur, Arshpreet Kaur, Kuljeet Kaur, Geeta, Prabhjot, Vipinjeet Kaur, Parveen, Kajal, Sandeep Kaur, Pardeep Kaur, Manpreet Kaur, Navdeep Kaur, Baljeet Kaur and Gurdeep Kaur. Sukhdev Singh Aulakh has been appointed the coach of the contingent.

The Punjab women’s team for the ensuing Senior National Baseball Championship would be selected on the basis of players’ performance in this meet, said Gill.
