Malerkotla SSP Gagan Ajit Singh has shown satisfaction over outcome of the “Project Sampark”, which was introduced recently by DGP Gaurav Yadav to initiate a direct contact between the police and the public.

Other than helping cops spread awareness on social evils, including drug abuse, domestic violence, eve-teasing and violation of traffic norms, the project has proved to be a boon for those victims who hesitate to approach the police. “While our department is all out to constitute maximum number of ward-level and locality-wise committees, we have started receiving information about crime-prone spots and petty issues, which normally go unreported,” said the SSP, adding that with the help of locals, cops would be able to resolve these issues more efficiently.

Acting under supervision of SP (H) Swaranjit Kaur, Kuldeep Singh, Davinder Singh Sandhu and Rajan Sharma, DSPs at Malerkotla, Amargarh and Ahmedgarh have been monitoring constitution of samparak committees in their respective areas.
