Activists of various wings of the Technical Services Union of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) organised a protest rally in front of the subdivision-level office on Pohir Road today. Chamkaur Singh presided over the rally convened by Sukhcharanjit Sharma.

The protesters were demanding revoking of orders abolishing 40,000 posts and 20 per cent reduction of posts of daily wagers. Reinstatement of dismissed leaders, payment of dearness allowance instalments and resumption of earlier mobile allowance were among their other major demands.

Speakers, including Sukhcharanjit Sharma, Rajbir Singh, Ashu Bains, Jaswinder Singh, Jarnail Singh and Amandeep Singh, alleged that the management was bent upon harassing employees of the board by implementing arbitrary defective policies on rights and privileges of workers and consumers.

They threatened to intensify the stir in case their long-pending demands were not accepted and implemented.
