Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar, — two of North India’s most prominent agricultural institutions — have entered into an agreement to strengthen cooperation in education, research and extension.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed to this effect paves way for joint initiatives aimed at addressing the sector’s toughest challenges.

Calling the PAU the mother institution of seven universities, Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal pointed to a legacy the two institutions already share. He said it has been built on decades of academic and research ties. Groundwater depletion, deteriorating soil health and methane-driven warming, demand exactly this kind of pooled effort, he added, delving into the PAU’s trajectory from conventional farming practices to digital agriculture while building up agribusiness capacity. Gosal pressed the case for combining expertise and resources in pursuit of sustainability.

Framing the pact as more than paperwork, HAU Vice-Chancellor Baldev Raj Kamboj called it the renewal of a bond between two premier institutions. He said goals and parallel struggles make the partnership fitting. Faculty and student exchanges, joint degree programmes, shared conferences and symposiums, common research facilities, collaborative projects and joint publications are real possibilities, each one capable of lifting the global standing of both universities, he added.

Speaking as member, Board of Management, PAU, Ashok Kumar detailed the intertwined history binding the two institutions, and voiced confidence the collaboration would drive progress across teaching, research and extension.
