Northern Railway would effect traffic blocks of different durations from February 28 to March 6 for work to upgrade infrastructure in connection with doubling work at Muzaffarnagar, Bamanheri, Rohana Kalan and Deoband railway stations on the Ghaziabad-Meerut City-Saharanpur section. As a result, some trains would remain cancelled, diverted and rescheduled.

Railway officials said 19325 Indore-Amritsar Express (on Feb 28) and 19326 Amritsar-Indore Express (on Feb 29) would remain cancelled. The 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar Intercity Express (on March 6) and 14682 Jalandhar-New Delhi Intercity Express (on March 5 and 6) would be diverted via Hazrat Nizamuddin-Tilak Bridge-Delhi Sahdara-Shamli-Tapri.

Further, the 19325 Indore-Amritsar Express would be rescheduled to depart from Indore at 5.25 pm (instead of 3.55 pm) on March 3 while 04402 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Anand Vihar Terminus Special Express would leave Katra at 3 am (instead of 11.30 pm) on March 3.

Meanwhile, cancellation of 11 long-route train today spelled more inconvenience for the passengers who have been at the receiving end ever since the rail traffic was affected by bad weather in the region. One pair of trains remained partially cancelled, six trains were diverted via alternative routes and some more were running behind schedule.

The Railways said 11077 Pune-Jammu Tawi Jhelum Express, 11449 Jabalpur-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express, 12549 Durg-Jammu Tawi Express, 12926 Amritsar-Bandra Terminus Pashchim Express, 13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail, 13151/52 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Sealdah Express, 14617/18 Banmankhi-Amritsar-Manmankhi Jansewa Express, 14674 Amritsar-Jaynagar Shaheed Express and 16032 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi

Katra-Chennai Central Andaman Express trains were cancelled today.

The pair of 14609/10 continued to be partially cancelled between Rishikesh and Haridwar in both directions. The 11057 CST (Mumbai)-Amritsar Dadar Express, 12715 Nanded-Amritsar Sachkhand Express (between Agra and Ambala Cantt), 12983 Ajmer-Chandigarh Garib Rath), 19612 Ajmer-Amritsar Express (between Phulera and Rewari) and 19717/18 Chandigarh-Jaipur-Chandigarh Intercity Express (between Jaipur and Rewari) were diverted via alternative routes.

Trains running late

Over 7 hrs: 14649 Jaynagar-Amritsar Saryu Yamuna Express, 18101 Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Muri Express.

2 to 5 hrs: 15211 Darbhanga-Amritsar Jannayak Express, 15655 Kamakhya-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express.

Up to 2 hrs: 18237 Gevra Road-Amritsar Chhattisgarh Express, 13005 Howrah-Amritsar Mail, 13307 Dhanbad-Ferozepur Ganga Sutlej Express.
