Ludhiana, May 16

The Municipal Corporation has served recovery notices on 22 complexes whose owners have failed to pay composition fee against the violations of building bylaws on their properties. It was learnt that the MC was expecting to recover Rs 6 crore from these defaulters.

Earlier, RTI activist Rohit Sabharwal had moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court against alleged misuse of parking space in 85 complexes located on College Road, Ghumar Mandi and other areas of the city.

The MC had sealed some complexes with non-compoundable violations. However, action was not taken against the complexes with compoundable violations, according to the complainant.

Assistant Town Planner (Headquarters) SS Bindra said notices had been served on 22 property owners who have not paid their dues. The MC has to recover around Rs 6 crore from these defaulters, he said.

Meanwhile, Sabharwal said the MC unsealed complexes with non-compoundable violations. He has sought an inquiry in this regard.
