In a meeting with employees, Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu and MC Commissioner Shena Aggarwal gave instructions to the branch heads to prepare lists of the contractual sewer men and safai karamcharis who are to be given appointment letter for regularisation of their jobs. The contractual employees including sewer men, safai karamcharis and others have been demanding regularisation of their jobs for a long time.

The members of Municipal Employees Sangharsh Committee led by Chairman Ashwani Sahota and president Jasdev Singh Sekhon conducted a meeting with authorities concerned at the MC’s Zone A office today.

Meanwhile, MC employees also raised their other demands before the Mayor and Commissioner. They demanded that jobs of contractual beldars and 394 employees of O&M branch and the horticulture branch should also be regularised.

They sought action against those officials responsible for not depositing funds in EPF accounts of the employees from September 2014 to October 2018 due to which employees faced financial losses. They demanded that funds along with interest for same period be deposited in the EPF accounts of the employees concerned.

The committee members have also demanded that the employees should be issued health insurance cards so that they can get timely treatment from hospitals in case of emergency.
