Relations turning sour, not the first instance

This incident where an ex-serviceman killed his wife for no reason is not an isolated case. Ludhiana has witnessed many such incidents in the past, in which relatives have turned out to be killers. Just two days ago, a girl hired contract killers and conspired to kill her father along with her mother and on Sunday, a man killed his wife.

Past incidents

• July 20: Suganda (18), along with her mother Geeta and paramour Tarun, hires contract killers to kill her father Kuldeep.
• May 30: Guddu (19), stabs brother-in-law (sister’s husband) Bhim to death.
• May 28-29: Surjit Kaur (65) murdered by her daughter-in-law Jyoti on Tibba Road with the help of her friend Varsha and her lover Rajvir Kashyap.
• May 21: Nanaki, 30, a native of UP, bludgeoned her husband Surinder Kumar (35) to death at Lal Bagh Colony, Rajguru Nagar.
• May 7: A 24-year-old man Vicky, alias Rahul, accused of killing and sexually assaulting his 8-year-old nephew Chetan, was arrested. Chetan’s mutilated body was recovered from a vacant plot in Ashok Nagar on May 4. 
• May 4: Chotey Lal, in an inebriated state, allegedly killed his 2-year-old son Moti by hitting him with stones in Ashok Nagar near the railway crossing in Salem Tabri.
• May 1: Varinder Arora killed his wife Nidhi Arora in Jamalpur. The accused presented it as a robbery incident by ransacking the entire house. However, his role was exposed later.
• March 29: The Shimlapuri police arrested one Charanjit Singh for killing his live-in partner Pooja in Janta Nagar. 
• April 27: Patit Pawan (26), a native of Orissa, was killed by his wife Vandana (25) and her paramour Gautam (23).
• March 16: One Abhishek Mishra killed his father Ram Mishra by strangling him in Haibowal. The accused killed his father as he was forcing him to shun drugs.
• March 10: Rakesh of Bharti colony stabbed his paramour Heena to death. Heena’s mutilated body was found at the house of the accused.
• February 20: In a case of honour killing, a man Gurmail Singh allegedly killed his daughter Balwinder Kaur (35), who had returned with her lover after five years to her parental house in Doaba Bhaini village in Koom Kalan.
