A scientist at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has secured a Rs 60-lakh grant for a project on bio-packaging of livestock products, officials said.
Rajesh V Wagh from the Department of Livestock Products Technology has secured the funds for his project titled ‘Smart-Bio-Pack for Livestock Products’.
The project has been funded by Union government’s Anusandhan National Research Foundation under the Inclusivity Research Grant scheme.
Nitin Mehta, department head, said the research is aimed at designing and developing sustainable and intelligent packaging solutions that enhance the safety, quality and shelf life of livestock products, particularly meat and milk.
The project aspires to address critical challenges related to food preservation, reduce post-harvest losses and promote eco-friendly packaging practices, he said.
Swaran Singh Randhawa, dean, College of Veterinary Science, lauded the accomplishment.
Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice Chancellor, congratulated the department and the researcher.
