A member of the Vigilant Citizens’ Forum, a city-based NGO, has complained to Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu against the alleged illegal construction of a multi-storeyed commercial complex near Barewal Sua and cremation ground at Sidhwan Canal Road.

In his complainant, Kuldeep Singh Khaira alleged that the fourth floor of the building is being constructed against rules. He stated that the area, where the building is constructed, falls under the MC’s jurisdiction, but the civic body has “failed” to act against the violation.

He claimed that the under construction building belongs to an official of the Municipal Corporation. Khaira demanded from the Local Bodies Minister to take strict action in this regard.

The copy of a complaint has also been sent to MC Commissioner and DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon posted at the MC office. According to an official of the MC Building Branch, they had already issued challan to the property owner against violations in the Zone D.

Earlier, a resident of BRS Nagar, Baljeet Singh, had complained against the alleged illegal construction. He said the construction was still going on despite issuing a challan.
