Ludhiana, December 31

A city resident of GTB Nagar, Jamalpur, has fallen victim to a cyber crime and lost Rs 52,700 in a fraudulent ATM transaction.

In a report to the Jamalpur police, Kapal Singh said he had a bank account with the Gole Market branch of IndusInd Bank and also held an ATM/debit card. He said on December 19 at 11.20 pm, some unidentified person had withdrawn a sum of Rs 52,700 from the Sadar Bazaar branch of the bank in a fraudulent manner even though the ATM card of the bank was with him.

After preliminary investigation, the cyber crime branch of the police had recommended registration of a case and accordingly unknown persons were booked under sections 420/379 of the IPC by the Jamalpur police. Further investigation in the case was on. OC
