Ludhiana, May 29

Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) workers, along with several residents, staged a protest outside the DC office today over the alleged cancellation of blue cards.

The protesters tied their neck with a rope to mark their protest. They slammed the Congress government for allegedly cancelling their blue cards.

Gagandeep Singh, alias Sunny Kainth, LIP leader, said they had submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner seeking justice for the poor people. He said: “On the instructions of the Congress government, blue cards of many people belonging to economically weaker section have been cancelled. We had earlier complained to the administration and also brought the matter into notice of a Cabinet minister but to no avail. The blue cards of these persons have not been resumed till date, due to which we were forced to mark protest today.”

“During the lockdown period, the government failed to provide ration to many blue card holders. However, the ration was distributed among the favourite persons of Congressmen. If the blue cards of the poor people are not resumed, we, along with LIP chief Simarjit Singh Bains, will be forced to stage protests outside houses of Cabinet ministers and MLAs,” he added.
