A retired manager of Union Bank, Ludhiana branch, allegedly raped a woman on the pretext of sending her to Canada.

He allegedly kept her in confinement at some isolated place in Hyderabad, where he raped her by serving her eatables laced with sedatives.

The accused has been identified as Jatinderpal Singh JP, a resident of Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar. The complainant, who is married and a resident of Bhagat Singh Nagar, told the police that on July 22 the accused took her to his house on the pretext of preparing a file for Canada’s visa, where he served her a cold drink laced with some sedatives. As a result, she fell unconscious. When she woke up, she found herself in Hyderabad.

The accused kept her in illegal confinement for two weeks, where she was continuously raped. The woman said she managed to escape and boarded a train to Delhi and called her parents.

The police said the accused was close to her father-in-law, who was an ex-serviceman and worked as a security guard.

The police said the accused is still at large. — TNS
