The robbers had looted cash, gold and silver jewellery worth several lakhs, and two scooters from the house of Jagraon-based businessman Nachhatar Singh after holding his family captive in the posh Heera Bagh locality.

Jagraon SSP Varinder Singh Brar said the accused were caught when a police team intercepted three persons, namely Manmohan Singh, Parmanand and Ajay Kumar, while they were coming from the Kothe Ath village side on a motorcycle on Monday night. “When the police searched them, they recovered 300-gram heroin hidden beneath the seat of their motorcycle. They were arrested and a case was registered against them under the NDPS Act. During preliminary questioning, the accused confessed their involvement in the robbery incident. The remaining two accused were arrested from separate locations on the basis of information given by the accused arrested earlier,” said Brar.
