Rotary Club hosts Iftar dinner in Malerkotla

The Rotary Club on Friday hosted an Iftar party for members of the Muslim community who are holding rozas, or fasts, to commemorate the holy Ramzan month.

Various non-Muslim associations, including service organisations like Rotary Club and Lions Club, have been hosting Iftar dinners here. Heads of government departments have also put a foot forward in this direction.

Paying gratitude to organisers of Iftar parties by local unit of the Rotary Club at Malerkotla Club, Mohammad Jamil Ur Rahman, the sole Muslim MLA in the state, hailed that Hindus and Sikhs of the region were setting an example by hosting these parties according to schedules decided by members of the Muslim community.

Amjad Ali, former district governor, Rotary International, said, “The Islam faith teaches us to welcome invitations from peace-loving people, irrespective of their caste, creed or religion.”

Swaroop Biharisharan, president, All-India Brahmin Front, said management committees of various Hindu shrines and religious organisations celebrate religious festivals of Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims together.
