Ludhiana, May 18
After more than a month of campaigning across the Ludhiana constituency, SAD candidate Maheshinder Singh Grewal is banking mainly on what he terms as ‘Modi wave’, along with the “poor performance” of sitting Congress MP.
In course of the election campaign, Grewal addressed more than two dozen election rallies in the rural belt and the city and dozens of meetings organised by the Youth Akali Dal and the BJP, besides organising 10 road shows at different places.
“The response from voters cutting across caste, religion and region has overwhelmed me and so has the unstinted support lent by the youth and women wing of the party,” says Grewal.
Both the Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu and the Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh remained under constant attack from the SAD-BJP candidate who lambasted the Congress over “failure” to fulfil any poll promise.
In a joint statement, the SAD-BJP candidate and veteran Akali leader, Maheshinder Singh Grewal, and BJP state general secretary Praveen Bansal claimed that the alliance will convincingly win by a margin of more than two lah votes from this seat. They said there was a massive pro-Modi wave across the country in general and Punjab, including Ludhiana, in particular.
“The rank and file of the BJP and the Akali Dal is geared up for the Lok Sabha elections tomorrow,” they added.
They appealed to the residents to exercise their right to franchise.
