Samrala SHO Sikander comes to the rescue of a vegetable vendor of Kulewal village when he purchased all vegetables from the vendor as he had no buyers. The SHO later handed over the entire stock to an NGO to be distributed among the needy.

The incident happened on Khanna road when an aged vegetable vendor reached near the road and asked the SHO to sell his vegetables as he was in dire need of money to support his family. Sikander asked the vendor the price of his entire stock and bought, to which the aged man replied that he would sell it all at Rs 3,500.

The SHO later donated the vegetables to Samrala NGO Lok Sewa Mission.

In Khanna on Wednesday, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leaders and workers, led by Netar Singh Nagra, had also come to the city with fodder to be fed to stray animals.

They stated that owing to the curfew, there was no fodder for stray animals so the members of the BKU, along with the members of Shiv Sena, fed the stray animals.
