Sangrur make early inroads after posting 232 against Ludhiana
Ludhiana 74/4 at close of day’s play in inter-dist U-16 cricket tourney
Ludhiana were 74 for the loss of four wickets as Sangrur made early inroads on Friday after posting 232 in their first innings during a Group D match of the Inter-District (U-16) Cricket Tournament. The two-day match is being played at Sangrur.
Put into bat, Sangrur recovered from an early wobble with crucial middle-order contributions. Rannvj Singh Sohi (42), Sukhmanpreet Singh (41) and Abhijot Singh (37) steadied the ship.
For Ludhiana, Khushil Arora was the pick of bowlers, returning figures of 4 for 28. Pratham Kanojia claimed two wickets for 53 runs.
In reply, Ludhiana were 74 for 4 in 26.2 overs at the close of day’s play. Jaiveer Handa held firm at the crease and was unbeaten on 23.
Tejas Sharma and Dev Dutt contributed 17 runs each. However, the visitors struggled to build momentum against a probing Sangrur attack.
For Sangrur, Pritham Singh was the standout performer with the ball, picking two wickets for 28 runs.
