Sanitation staff share grievances with national panel chief

Ludhiana, August 30

Chairman of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, M Venkatesan (rank and status of Union Minister of State) conducted a meeting with Safai Karamcharis and members of different MC employees’ unions at the Circuit House here on Friday.

The aim of the meeting was to listen to grievances and problems being faced by safai karamcharis and make recommendations to improve their condition at the ground level.

MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi, Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh and Superintending Engineer Ravinder Garg were among other officials present.

Leaders and members of MC employees unions participated in the meeting and raised concern over issues being faced by the safai karamcharis. Venkatesan said after hearing the issues of the employee unions, a number of recommendations were made to officials on the spot. He said in some matters, decisions have to be taken by the state government and he would make recommendations to it.
