The alumni association of SCD Government College celebrated the 105th birth anniversary Sahir Ludhianvi, one of their most famous alumnus.

Shivdular Singh Dhillon, secretary-cum-chief executive, Indian Red Cross, Punjab, also a college alumnus, presided over the event.

Other alumni and teachers were present at the event that included recitations of the famous poet and Bollywood lyricist’s popular songs. The event was supported by Afreen Musical group. A discussion on Ludhianvi’s progressive literary heritage was also organised on the occasion.

The participants also recited poems on International Women’s Day. Dhillon announced two special computers and software for visually impaired and specially abled students of the college.

Professors Ashok Kapoor and PK Sharma gifted competition examination books worth 15,000 to the college. Goyal said alumni and other fans in the city have mooted a Sahir Ludhianvi’s Literary Forum to keep his progressive poetry alive.
