Students of various schools of the subdivision vowed to further the agenda of the state government to implement the Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) programme in letter and spirit by spreading awareness about causes and consequences of drug addiction.

The oath was taken in response to appeal made by Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Pardeep Aggarwal after releasing the mascot of the buddy programme during a brief function held at subdivision administrative office, here on Friday.

Block Development Officer Navneet Joshi said the designated buddies from schools of the subdivision had committed themselves to associate with the DAPO programme being run under the supervision of SDM Raikot Himanshu Gupta.

Earlier, Aggarwal had conducted an inspection of various sections of the office falling under jurisdiction of SDM Raikot and found the functioning to be satisfactory.
