Schoolteachers get training for new value education initiative

The district administration held an event to train teachers the Sohan Lal Pahwa Auditorium here on Saturday under the Maitri Sanskar Teacher Training Programme.

During the session, teachers were trained for the new value education initiative being introduced in 12 government schools of the district.

During the training, teachers were introduced to the child-centred and activity-based approach of the programme. They were guided on conducting value-based sessions in an engaging manner and linking them with everyday classroom learning.

Pilot project for 3 sessions

The Maitri Sanskar Value Education Programme, an initiative of the MaitriBodh Parivaar Charitable Trust, has been taken up by the district administration as a pilot project for three academic years. The programme is aimed at helping students develop good values, ensuring their emotional well-being, aiding them inculcate life skills and developing a sense of responsibility towards the society.

The programme will focus on integrating value education with classroom learning through workbooks, activities, storytelling, reflection and real-life situations. Teachers will be provided training and learning material, along with mentorship, classroom support and regular monitoring and assessment.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain stressed the role of education in developing knowledgeable students and responsible, compassionate and value-driven citizens.
