LUDHIANA: Chief Minister Amarinder Singh will arrive in the constituency tomorrow to hold a roadshow in favour of Congress candidate from Dakha Capt Sandeep Sandhu.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh will arrive in the constituency tomorrow to hold a roadshow in favour of Congress candidate from Dakha Capt Sandeep Sandhu.

Tight security arrangements have been made by the Jagraon police for the CM’s roadshow. Capt Amarinder Singh is expected to visit 28 villages to seek votes for the Congress candidate.

A posse of police has already been deployed in the Dakha constituency. SSP, Jagraon, Sandeep Goyal said 11 police check posts (sealing points) have been set up, where regular checks were being conducted.

“This will be on till the elections. We have to be extra vigilant for the CMs visit tomorrow as far as security is concerned. For elections, almost 1,000 cops will be put on duty. Meetings are on with officials and other government departments for smooth and fair elections,” said Goyal.

A senior Congress leader here said the CM will start from the first point around 10:30 am and would be busy interacting with people the entire day and addressing villagers. He will visit Bhata Dhuan, Walipur Kalan, Ghamnewal, Baniewal, Maniewal, Chak Kalan, Chagna, Bhatiyan Dhaha, Issewal, Alliwal, Walipur Khurd, Talwandi Nau Abad, Kul Gehna, Kot Umran, Gorahur, Gorsian Khan Mohd, Hujra, Akkuwal, Gag Kalan, New Salempura and Pandori among other places.

Random checking is already being conducted in Dakha to prevent miscreants from indulging in untoward incidents and check the flow of cash and liquor.

Meanwhile, the Congress camp is abuzz with activity to receive the CM in Ludhiana tomorrow. Local leaders were geared up to welcome the CM and make the roadshow a success. 

“The leaders belonging to various political parties may make tall claims, but once the CM come to the constituency tomorrow, all will see the warm welcome given to him and the Congress and their own claims will fall flat,” the Congress leader said.

Formed an ever-lasting bond with people of dakha, says Sandhu

Sandeep Sandhu, Congress candidate from Dakha Assembly segment, campaigned in several villages on Monday. He said: “I have formed an everlasting bond with the people of Dakha. Come what may, I am going to stay here and not going anywhere," he told the gathering here today. "No doubt I was born in Faridkot, but God had apparently written my destiny for Dakha to work with people here. Today, I am seeking your support and blessings to give me a chance as you have given everyone so far," he said. "When I will start working for the development of constituency, it will benefit everyone and we do not discriminate against anyone," he said. "I definitely have a mission and a roadmap for this constituency, but I would also like you to contribute with your ideas and suggestions," he told people in the villages. — TNS
