SGPC to give aid to Ludhiana para-badminton girl player

The SGPC has announced financial assistance for Shabana, an international para-badminton player from Ludhiana, who has qualified for the Para-Badminton World Championship to be held in Bahrain from February 8 to 14.

Announcing the aid here today, Pritpal Singh, member of the Dharam Prachar Committee of the SGPC, said the committee was committed to supporting talented sportspersons and contributing to social and humanitarian causes. The assistance will cover Shabana’s championship fee, visa and travel expenses.

He also appreciated Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Himanshu Jain and United Sikhs for extending additional support, including sports equipment, jerseys and shoes for Shabana and her husband Ashwani, who is also an international para-badminton player.

Pritpal Singh extended best wishes to the athletes and honoured them with ‘siropas’. It was stated that a win at the championship would also make Shabana qualify for the upcoming Asian Para Games-2026. Prominent persons present included Amritpal Singh, Punjab, Director, Punjab United Sikhs, and others.
