Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, September 22

As the Ludhiana-Raikot road (known as Pakhowal Road) has been renamed as Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Marg, the Municipal Corporation has started installing direction boards in this regard at various locations on the stretch under its jurisdiction.

A notification was issued by the state government in June to rename the stretch from Bhai Bala Chowk here to Raikot Road as Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Marg. The road passes through Sarabha village, which was the ancestral village of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, a martyr of the freedom struggle.

A group of residents from Sarabha village have been demanding from the government to rename Pakhowal Road as Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Marg.

A senior MC official said the direction boards regarding Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Marg were being installed on the stretch under the MC’s jurisdiction.
