Ludhiana, August 30

As the mystery about the reason of murderous attack on Sindhi Bakers owner Naveen Gangwani is yet to be ascertained, the victim, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital after suffering a bullet injury in his neck, too expressed ignorance about the reason of targeting him. He even told police officials that he had never recieved any threatening or extortion calls from any gangster or anti-social elements in the past and the murderous attack on him has frightened him and his family.

One of the family members of the victim said on Friday that the assailants who came to their bakery on Wednesday were never seen by Naveen. Even when they entered the bakery, they did not hold any argument with the victim, they just fired shots at him and fled. They even did not ask for money or commit any loot.

Had Naveen or any of their family member received extortion calls, the assailants would have talked about the same, quipped the victim’s family member.

Notably, the Moga police had arrested the duo after exchange of fire late on Wednesday night, who opened firing at the bakery owner. Jagmit Singh, alias Meeta, and Vikas Kumar, alias Kasa, both residents of Moga, were arrested.

ADCP (Crime) Amandeep Singh Brar, when asked if the suspects had made extortion calls to the bakery owner and demanded any money from him, he said he talked to the victim and his family members in detail after the incident and they had confirmed that they never got extortion call from any gangster. Even mobile phone of the victim had no record of any such call. “We will bring the suspects on production warrant once the Moga police completes their investigation. Then the interrogation of the suspects may reveal any information about the murderous attack on the bakery owner,” he said.
