Sister, brother-in-law held for girl's murder in Ludhiana

The police claimed to have solved the murder case of a 22-year-old migrant girl, Anita, with the arrest of her sister Babita (25) and brother-in-law Lal Bachan Sudai, alias Amit Sudai (32), all migrants from Bihar, who were presently residing in Green City Colony, Mullanpur Road, Humbran, here.

The case

Joint Commissioner of Police Narinder Bhargav said a migrant girl, Anita, who was living with her sister Babita and brother-in-law Lal Bachan Sudai, alias Amit Sudai, was found murdered on June 18, 2022, in one of the two rooms on the first floor of a rented accommodation here.

The trigger

After investigation, the police named Lal Bachan and his wife Babita as the prime suspects. The reason behind the murder was found to be illicit relationships between Anita and her brother-in-law, which led to constant fights between the couple.

Duo fled to Bihar after the crime

After committing the crime, the couple fled to their native place Madepura village, PS Pandol, in Madhubani district of Bihar. A team of the Ladhowal police went to Bihar in search of the suspects. The police managed to arrest them from Bihar.

Giving details, Joint Commissioner of Police Narinder Bhargav said Anita, who was living with Babita and Amit, was found murdered on June 18, 2022, in one of the two rooms on the first floor of a rented accommodation here.

“When the police reached the spot, they found the body lying on a wooden cot. The victim had bleeding from the nose and the mouth and she had strangulation marks on the neck. The postmortem examination was conducted on June 20. The police registered a case under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC. After investigation, the police named Lal Bachan and his wife Babita as the prime suspects. The reason behind the murder was found to be illicit relationships between Anita and her brother-in-law, which led to constant fights between the couple,” said Bhargav.

After committing the crime, the couple fled to their native place Madepura village, PS Pandol, in Madhubani district of Bihar. A team of the Ladhowal police went to Bihar in search of the suspects. The police managed to arrest them from Bihar.

Bhargav said they both were produced in a local court, which sent them to police custody. During investigation, a dupatta and a pink T-shirt, allegedly used to strangulate the girl and wipe blood stains, were recovered.
