Ludhiana, May 25

The city police have booked six persons in three cases of fraud involving over Rs 1.25 crore.

On a complaint of Jagdish Chandar of New Shivpuri, the PAU police registered a fraud case against Sarita and her son Karan Dhingra, both residents of Country Homes West. Jagdish alleged that he had struck a deal to buy a house from the suspects for Rs 3 crore. He paid them Rs 1.25 crore as advance.

It was decided that the registration deed would be executed on February 20. However, the mother-son duo did not turn up on that date. Later when he asked the suspects to return his money, they refused.

The investigation officer, ASI Gurvinder Singh, said the suspects were yet to be arrested.

Another property-fraud case was registered at the Tibba police station against Navneet Aggarwal and Mona Aggarwal of Iyali Kalan, and Pardeep Kumar of Harcharan Nagar. The complainant, Amarjit Singh of Badewal Road, said the suspects had tampered with property record with the connivance of revenue officials to usurp his property. The investigation officer, ASI Kulwant Singh, said further investigation into the case was under way.

In yet another case, a travel agent was booked by the Division No. 3 police on the charge of committing a fraud. The suspect has been identified as Ashok Kumar of Samrala Chowk. The complainant, Kuldeep Kumar of Nurmahal, told the police that the suspect had taken Rs 60,000 from him for sending him to Lebanon. However, he failed to keep his promise and also refused to return his money.
