SKM holds protests outside BJP office, residences of AAP ministers
Protesters lambast the BJP for Centre’s 'anti-people' laws
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), trade unions and public democratic organizations on Sunday organised protests outside the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) office here and the residences of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers across the state.
The protesters lambasted the BJP for Centre’s “anti-people” laws, including the four labour codes, the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act replacing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Electricity Amendment Bill, the Seed Bill and the India-US trade agreement.
They cornered the AAP government over its “anti-people” policies in Punjab.
The protesters said the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was “pro-corporate and anti-people”. “Laws are being brought in to please the rich while the working class suffers. The India-US trade agreement has shaken the soul of the country,” the protesters said.
