Two-wheeler riding snatchers struck at two places here and looted mobile phones and valuables of their victims by threatening them even as the police claimed to have apprehended two of them.

Kesar Alam, a resident of Manoj Colony on Jassian Road, lodged a complaint with the police that while going back home late at night on October 15 with his co-workers, two persons riding a Hero Splendour motor cycle (PB-37H-3975) confronted him and snatched his mobile phone, Rs 1,500 and a silver chain after threatening him with a sword.

In the course of the investigation, the police identified the snatchers as Paras, a resident of Santokhpura in Phillaur, and Dheera, a resident of Ganna village near Phillaur. A case was registered in this regard.

In the other incident, Vikas and his brother Om Parkash, residents of Puneet Nagar on Tibba Road, complained that when they were going in search of work on Saturday, two motor cycle-borne youths accosted them near Havell’s factory near Balaji Puli and fled after snatching their two mobile phones by threatening them with a sharp-edged weapon. The victims told the police that the snatchers were riding a Hero Splendour motor cycle, bearing registration number PB-10EL-2163.

The police said on the basis of information provided by the victims, snatchers were identified as Surjeet Singh of Peru Banda in Salem Tabri and Prabhjot Singh of Hardev Nagar, Bhamian Kalan. Both were arrested and booked under various Sections of the IPC.
