Spike reaches new levels in Ludhiana

With 296 fresh cases, the number of Covid cases reported in Ludhiana district today reached 4,808. The death has gone up to 158 with 10 more succumbing to virus.

Meanwhile, six more micro-containment zones were declared. Now, the number of such zones stands at 16.

The deceased include two TB patients, a 14-year-old boy from Bhamian (Rajindra Hospital, Patiala) and a 35-year-old man from Kaunke Kalan. A 24-year-old woman from Janta Nagar, who was also suffering from anaemia, hypertension and a kidney ailment, died at the CMCH. The other victims were in the age group of 50-60 years and belonged to Khanna, BRS Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Haibowal Kalan, Samrala and Rahon.

Today’s cases include 144 contacts of patients, 63 cases reported from flu corners, 29 from OPDs, eight police personnel, five healthcare workers, four pregnant women, three domestic travellers and one undertrial.

The ACP, Industrial Area B, Sandeep Wadhera, has also tested positive.

Till date, 24,854 persons have been placed under home quarantine in the district and the number os such cases at present is 4,782. Today, 404 persons were asked to home-quarantine themselves.

‘Sanjivani’ initiative

Meanwhile, the Ludhiana Administration, in collaboration with a team of medical experts, launched an initiative called “Sanjivani”. The top medical experts for this initiative are Prof Bishav Mohan, Prof Rajesh Mahajan, Dr Sandeep Chhabra, Dr Vipin (DMC Ludhiana), Prof HS Pannu (Director, Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana), Prof Mary John (CMC, Ludhiana), Dr Gurpreet Singh (Critical Care Expert, Apollo Hospital, Ludhiana) and Dr Hitender Kaur Sohal (SMO of Civil Hospital and Nodal Officer Covid, Ludhiana).

This panel will be visiting level 1 facilities and the Civil Hospital, and monitor the shifting of patients to level 3 facilities if required.
