After a boy refused the marriage proposal of a girl with whom he was having an affair, she attempted to commit suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence on the Noorwala road yesterday evening.

At present, the girl is undergoing treatment at a private hospital where her condition is stated to be stable. The girl also alleged that the boy maintained sexual relationship with her for several times on the pretext of solemnising marriage.

Girl’s father alleged that the boy had promised her daughter that he would marry her in January this year, but he refused and started making hollow promises.

The girl also wrote a suicide note in which she held the boy responsible for her extreme step. She also mentioned in the suicide note that she loved him and not his money.

The SHO, Basti Jodhewal, Lakhwinder Singh, said the police had launched a probe and action would be taken as per the law.
