Staff protest at Ludhiana Civil Hospital over delay in salary

Amid growing frustration over delayed salaries, staff members working under the National Health Mission (NHM) for the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) at the Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, have raised serious concerns about non-payment of dues.

In a formal communication addressed to NHM Mission Director, the employees highlighted that data entry operators and other contractual staff have not received their salaries for over two months.

The delay in salary disbursement is directly affecting service delivery under the mission. The staff expressed disappointment, noting that despite repeated appeals, the issue remains unresolved. They warned that if corrective action is not taken, they would be forced to implement the principle of ‘No Salary, No Work’.

The letter further mentions that the situation has reached a breaking point, with employees feeling compelled to protest due to financial hardships and lack of departmental response. The staff emphasised that they continue to serve patients under fixed honorarium rates, yet their dedication is being undermined by administrative delays.

The issue has sparked concern among health advocates, who fear that disruptions in the TB services could impact patient care and public health outcomes.
